E-Stim
Electrical stimulation (e-stim) uses an electrical current to cause a single muscle or a group of muscles to contract.
By placing electrodes on the skin in various locations, your Doctor can target the appropriate muscle fibers. Contracting the muscle via electrical stimulation helps strengthen the affected muscle.
Your Doctor can change the settings to allow for a forceful or gentle muscle contraction. Along with increasing muscle strength, the contraction of the muscle also promotes blood supply to the area that assists in healing.
“I first visited Dr. Hinde’s office to deal with ongoing pain around my left shoulder. During the initial exam he diagnosed it as likely being caused by improperly lifting something heavy (true – the pain started soon after we had moved), and proposed a care plan that would eliminate the pain in four visits. He pinpointed an area of my lower spine for adjustments, put me on the traction machine, and applied e-stim and cold laser. Within three weeks, the numbness was GONE!
