Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or CTS is caused by impingement of the median nerve thru the carpal tunnel, which comes thru the palm side of the wrist. Symptoms will typically include pain, tingling, or numbness in the thumb, first, second, third, and half of the fourth finger, palm side only into the fingertips.
One may also experience decreased grip strength or difficulty with lifting objects, keying, or mousing. Symptoms may also be present at night due to sleeping in the fetal position with the wrist overly flexed.
CTS is a repetitive stress disorder. Repetitive stressors include keying, mousing, meatpacking, grocery store checking, music playing, poor sleeping posture, etc. Our office utilizes a variety of non-surgical techniques in the treatment of CTS.
They include active myofascial release of adhesions impinging the carpal tunnel, cold laser therapy, specific chiropractic manipulation of the carpal bones, progressive stretching and splinting.
